What We Do
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
Our unwavering commitment is focused on driving positive transformation. Our goal is to empower the Timorese people by fostering self-sufficiency through job creation, revitalizing agriculture, and providing sustainable clean energy solutions, among other initiatives.
Nature Based Solutions
We believe that nature-based solutions are key to building sustainable and resilient communities. By leveraging natural processes, we address challenges like climate change, food security, and ecosystem degradation. Our initiatives in sustainable farming, reforestation, and watershed management empower communities to thrive while preserving biodiversity and promoting environmental balance.
Biochar
Production
Yayasan Besipae, in partnership with WasteX, has launched a small-scale biochar initiative to improve soil health, boost crop yields, and reduce carbon emissions. By converting organic waste into biochar, we enable farmers to embrace sustainable practices that benefit both agriculture productivity and the environmental sustainability.
Sustainable Seaweed Farming
Seaweed farming offers opportunities to boost income, enhance food security, conserve marine biodiversity, and empower women. In collaboration with UNDANA and technology support from Seatech, Besipae has piloted a sustainable farming model that reduces plastic pollution, increases year-round income, and secures reliable buyers for farmers.

Solar Power Distribution
Facilitating solar panel installations in rural areas to provide affordable, sustainable energy. By offering clean, off-grid solutions, we improve access to electricity, enhance quality of life, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, driving both environmental sustainability and economic growth.
Farming
Support
Supporting farmers by introducing high-yield shallot, chili, and tomato farming varieties, implementing efficient irrigation systems, teaching best practice and securing reliable off-take agreements. These initiatives diversify income sources, boost productivity, and enhance food security through sustainable practices.
Access to Clean Water
In 2021, Cyclone Saroja severely impacted communities in NTT, leaving many without access to clean water—a vital resource for survival and recovery. In response, Besipae took swift action by distributing affordable water filtration units to as many households as possible, ensuring families had access to safe drinking water and reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
